The Internet has become central to our daily lives. As more and more individuals, businesses, organizations and agencies increase reliance on the Internet for communications, commerce, business operations and other critical services it has become a huge target for cybercriminals. From spam attacks disrupting email systems to distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks and identity theft that can disrupt lives, it is more important than ever for businesses and individuals to implement appropriate measures to stay safe online.
In an effort to raise awareness of the roles that all of us play in protecting our digital lives, today, individuals, organizations, and communities throughout the United States are gearing up to promote National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). Tens of thousands of NCSAM participants across the country, including Verisign, will be doing their part by posting safety and security tips on social networks, educating their customers and employees, posting tips, holding events, and much more.
At Verisign, we are excited to participate in NCSAM during the month of October by launching our new online Cybersecurity Resource Center, participating in a variety of events about cybersecurity related topics, and hosting a webinar with Forrester Research on best practices for web availability. In addition, we will be posting daily tips and other information from our Facebook and Twitter accounts and providing weekly blog posts from some of our resident cybersecurity experts.
If you are concerned about making the Internet safer and more secure for everyone, we invite you to become an active participant in National Cyber Security Awareness Month. Everyone can do something to help raise awareness!
